Casanega reminiscences, 1883-1935.

Reminiscences of Thomas Casanega entitled "The Life History of T.D. Casanega". Describes life in Nogales, ranching in Calabasas, the Geronimo surrender in 1886, and law enforcement incidents in Pima and Santa Cruz County. Discusses Sheriff Robert Paul, the Florence stage robbery involving the Joe Tuttle and Len Redfield, and Apache attacks on Mr. Peck and Charles Owens. Includes handwritten and typed copies, correspondence with the Historical Society, and one telegram from F.M. Jeffries to Casanega in 1883.

Pioneer rancher and sheriff in Pima County and the Santa Cruz Valley, Casanega came to Arizona in 1877. He married Pete Kitchen's niece, Apolonia Cordova in 1885, was known as a "cattle baron of Tubac", and spent many years in Nogales. He was deputy sheriff in Quijotoa, Ariz. in 1884.
